Transport in Denmark, in Germany and between EU countries

After an international delivery the truck does not return empty. We carry domestic loads in Denmark and Germany and loads between other EU countries, in line with the Mobility Package.

Cabotage and cross-trade

How it works

  1. 1

    International delivery

Cabotage only starts after an international load has been unloaded in the country. The 7 days count from that moment.

  2. 2

    Up to 3 domestic trips

Within that time the truck can carry out up to three domestic operations. Each one is recorded in the system with date, place and odometer reading.

  3. 3

    Break and return

After a cabotage series a 4-day cooling-off period applies in that country. The truck returns to base at least once every 8 weeks.

  4. 4

    Posting and documents

In cabotage and cross-trade the driver falls under the posting rules. The declaration and transport documents are in the truck in case of a roadside check.

Cabotage and cross-trade

What you get

  • Fewer empty kilometres: the truck takes a load where it has just finished

  • Cabotage limits are counted by the system, not by the driver’s memory

  • We see the driver’s driving and rest time live, so we only plan what can legally be driven

  • The same standards as in FTL: live position, ETA by e-mail, CMR as PDF

  • Most often: Denmark (Jutland, Zealand) and Germany (the north, the Ruhr)
